Singhadurbar Vaidyakhana Vikas Samiti (SDVKVS)

This Vaidyakhana (Ayurveda Pharmacy) is supposed to be the first pharmaceutical institution/industry of historical importance in Nepal. It was first established during the regime of Pratap Malla (1641-1674AD) in Hanumandhoka Palace. Later on, it was transferred to Thapathali by the then Prime Minister Jangabahadur Rana & again shifted to Singhadurbar by Rana Prime Minister Juddha Samsher.

Many valuable & famous Ayurvedic Medicines were prepared in this Vaidyakhana, but they were available for the king, Prime Minister & their families, relatives or nearest people. These medicines were made to the reach of general people by King Tribhuwan only after 1952AD. Since 1959, it also started to supply medicines to all the Ayurveda Aushadhalayas (Governments Ayurveda Dispensaries) for free distribution throughout the country. This practice is still continuing, as it is the only manufacturer of classical & Tarakib (patent) qualitative Ayurvedic Medicines of NG, Nepal.
